Taking off Makeup - How to Come Clean

We've uncovered a few neat tricks for taking off makeup. Here are the bare facts...

Just like brushing your teeth, removing your makeup should be a habit you practice every single night. Here are some suggestions for making things perfectly clear:

THE EYES - remove eye makeup first (before face makeup and lipstick). Choose liquid remover or presoaked removal pads. Avoid oily products, particularly if you have sensitive eyes or wear contacts (they tend to break up particles of makeup, which can get in your eyes and irritate thern). How to do it: This area is the most sensitive and delicate, so be gentle. Smooth pads (or cotton balls, if you're using liquid) over the lids in a downward motion.

This way, makeup residue will collect beneath the lower lashes. Next, use a cotton swab to clean the area under the eyes. We suggest: Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover Gel and Cover Girl Extremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads.

THE FACE - choose cleansers that are designed for your specific skin type.

For normal skin: Use a gentle cleanser followed by an alcohol-free toner.

For oily skin: Use an oil-removing c1eanser followed by a low-alcohol astringent.

For dry skin: Use a mild c1eanser first, then apply a freshener.

For combination skin: Use a cleansing bar, then apply a mild toner to the nose, chin, and forehead.

For sensitive skin: Use a gentle cleanser only. Depending on your skin type, follow up cleansing by applying specified astringents and toners. We suggest: L'Oreal Plenitude Active Cleansing Gel and Floral Tonic (for normal skin); Ten-O-Six Soap-Free Cleansing Gel and Deep Cleansing Softening Lotion (for normal to oily skin); Chanel Cleansing Milk and Firming Freshener (for dry skin); Revlon Pure Skin Care Wash-Up and Pure Skin Care Rinse (for combination skin); and Propa pH Medicated Cleansing Pads (for sensitive skin).

THE LIPS - to uncover those luscious lips: Take a cotton makeup remover pad, and moisten it with cold cream or a milky cleanser. Then gently wipe mouth. We suggest: Demak'up Cotton Makeup Removers.
